IDIN – International Development Innovation Network

The International Development Innovation Network (IDIN) empowers a diverse, global network of innovators to design, develop, and disseminate low-cost technologies to improve the lives of people living in poverty. IDIN is a consortium of university and partners led by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and funded by the US Agency for International Development’s U.S. Global Development Lab.

IDIN fosters and supports its network through a variety of channels including design summits, local innovation centers, a research program, and student engagement.

Instituto PEABIRU

Instituto Peabiru is a Civil Society Organization of Public Interest (OSCIP), established in 1998 with headquarters in Belém, Pará, Brazil. The organization’s purpose is to address the socio-economic and environmental issues related to the long-term sustainability of the Brazilian Amazon. We work alongside communities and local civil society organizations to increase capacity of residents to exercise their citizenship to the fullest extent and enjoy the benefits of a sustainable economic model while promoting conservation of the Amazon. We facilitate transformation processes which can occur within communities, civil society organizations and enterprises, and we strive to address exclusion and inequality.

It’s the first FAB LAB in the Amazon region and it is a space where almost anything can be made. A digital laboratory with the goal of bringing together people with good ideas and those who want to bring them to life, in addition to applying Social Technology and Creative Economy collaboratively to create sustainable solutions for troubleshooting in the local community.

FAB LABs are a knowledge sharing network that spans more than 60 countries and nearly 450 laboratories. It also means sharing tools and common processes, thus building a strongly connected global network around research and innovation.

CAOS Focado

Founded in 2011, CAOS Focado is a innovation and technology hub. We work creating projects and the culture of innovation in big companies, technology startups, social innovation actions in low-income communities and innovation-oriented pedagogical programs at the intersection of education and technology. These past years, we have worked with some partners such as Itaú, Cia de Talentos, Tim Institute, ISMART and Visconde de Porto Seguro School. In the social area, supported and engaged by IDIN(International Development Innovation Network), we are responsible for the creation and management of CIVNE, a makerspace in Vila Nova Esperança (a low-income community in São Paulo).
